High Impact Philanthropy's (HIP) mission is to advance social justice by maximizing the impact of nonprofit programs and philanthropic dollars.
HIP helps foundations and nonprofits reach their goals. We believe that the impact of a program can be clearly defined and measured to inform future planning and create a cycle of measurement, planning and program development that will make ideals real.
There is a perception in the social world that measuring the impact of certain programs is not possible. The argument is that the impact takes too long to show up, there are too many variables affecting the outcome and/or the outcome is intangible. This parallels an old saw in psychology research --if you can't count it, it doesn't count; if you can count it, that ain't it. This conundrum doesn't block our work, it is the jumping off point for High Impact Philanthropy, which finds meaningful ways to measure change.
We are a team of psychologists, writers, editors and information specialists who are committed to the advancement of social justice.
The psychologists on our team are experts in evaluation and change processes. They understand the dynamics of change in both individuals and organizations as well as the psychological processes that produce resistance to change. Knowing how to pinpoint these variables as well as measure and address them enables HIP to help blocked programs work and working programs have high impact.
We will design and conduct (or help you carry out) an evaluation of a nonprofit's programs or existing grants.
The nonprofit sector attacks social problems and societal needs that the public sector doesn't have the resources, will or mandate to accomplish. It can pioneer risky and innovative programs; some offer great benefits while others don’t accomplish what the planners imagined. Many visionary and exciting programs fall into this latter category, and they not only drain resources from effective programs, they can undermine a nonprofit’s credibility and overall funding potential.
HIP will help you develop a plan to turn ideas into goals, goals into objectives, and objectives into workable methods. We'll help you develop new program ideas to maximize your chances for funding. We will work with you to develop a project plan that suits your needs and capitalizes on your resources to turn ideas into action.
